The bidirectional double-speed governor comprises a rope wheel, a main shaft, a base, a speed detection mechanism and a brake mechanism, the rope wheel is supported on the main shaft, the rope wheel drives the main shaft to rotate together, the main shaft is rotatably fixed to the base through a bearing, the speed detection mechanism can trigger the brake mechanism at a preset speed, and the brake mechanism is driven by the speed detection mechanism to rotate. The brake mechanism is used for braking the speed governor rope; according to the speed limiter, only one speed detection mechanism is used for achieving different triggering speeds in the scene that the ascending rated speed of the high-speed elevator is larger than the descending rated speed, and the size and cost of the speed limiter are greatly reduced; meanwhile, by further changing the setting of the elastic piece, different overspeed switch second triggering speeds Vu1 can be set under the condition that parts are not replaced so as to cope with elevators with different ascending rated speeds, and the speed limiter is more universal.
