The invention discloses a central fresh water cooling system for a ship, and belongs to the technical field of ship control. The system comprises a control end connected with a central cooling water pump and used for controlling the working state of the central cooling water pump; the central cooling water pump is connected with the working group and is used for conveying fresh water to the working group through a fresh water pipeline so as to recover heat generated by working of the working group; the frequency converter is arranged on a first channel between the control end and the central cooling water pump and used for receiving a control instruction of the control end and determining the working frequency point of the central cooling water pump so as to control the central cooling water pump to operate according to the working frequency point. According to the technical scheme, the purpose of automatically adjusting the running power of the central cooling water pump can be achieved, system energy is saved, and the durability of the central cooling water pump and the reliability of cooling ship equipment are improved.
