The invention provides a steering wheel resistance increasing method which comprises the following steps: identifying the position of a vehicle, and if the vehicle is judged to be in a predetermined area, limiting the rotation angular velocity of the steering wheel when the steering wheel rotates. The invention provides a steering wheel resistance increasing system which comprises a steering wheel and a steering servo motor connected with the steering wheel, the steering servo motor communicates with a control unit and responds to the control unit, the control unit receives signals of a sensing unit, and the steering wheel resistance increasing system further comprises a positioning device. The positioning device identifies vehicle position information and transmits the vehicle position information to the control unit. According to the invention, the servo motor only provides assistance in a specific area, so that the energy consumption can be obviously reduced; more stable vehicle steering can be provided; and the resistance increase can be adjusted through software, so that the device can be easily matched with different vehicle types, and the production and development periods can be shortened.
