A heater member (100) is provided with: a honeycomb structure (10) having an outer peripheral wall (11) and partition walls (12) that are disposed on the inner side of the outer peripheral wall (11) and that define a plurality of cells (14) that form a flow path from a first end surface (13a) to a second end surface (13b), the outer peripheral wall (11) and the partition walls (12) being configured from a material having PTC characteristics; the pair of electrode layers (20) is disposed on the surface of the outer peripheral wall (11). In a cross section orthogonal to the central axis (X1), the honeycomb structure (10) has a shape having a long axis (X2) and a short axis (X3). The pair of electrode layers (20) are formed in a strip shape extending parallel to the central axis (X1), and are disposed on the surface of the outer peripheral wall (11) so as to face each other across a long axis (X2) passing through the center of gravity of the honeycomb structure (10) in a cross section orthogonal to the central axis (X1). The heater member (100) is further provided with a plate-shaped external connection member (30) which is disposed on the end side of each electrode layer (20) and which is in planar contact with each electrode layer (20).
