The invention provides a cooling device for an electric motor, which can spray a refrigerant sprayed from above the electric motor to an appropriate part of a stator coil of the electric motor regardless of the change of the vehicle behavior during the running of the vehicle. The discharge hole formed in the cooling pipe is configured so that the discharge direction of the refrigerant can be adjusted in accordance with the flow rate of the refrigerant, and the flow rate of the refrigerant supplied to the cooling pipe is changed on the basis of acceleration information (forward and backward acceleration, leftward and rightward acceleration, and upward and downward acceleration) of the vehicle. Therefore, by appropriately adjusting the flow rate of the refrigerant on the basis of the acceleration information, the discharge direction of the refrigerant can be always maintained in an appropriate state regardless of changes in the behavior of the vehicle, and the refrigerant can be sprayed to an appropriate range of the stator coil.
