The invention discloses a follow-up travel assistance device, a follow-up travel assistance method, and a computer program. The present invention increases the probability that a host vehicle encounters a partner vehicle that travels together with the host vehicle in such a manner that a following vehicle follows a preceding vehicle. A follow-up travel assistance device is provided with: a vehicle detection unit (15) that detects surrounding vehicles around a host vehicle; and a vehicle speed setting unit (16) that sets the target vehicle speed of the host vehicle. The vehicle speed setting unit sets the target vehicle speed to a speed different from the set speed of the host vehicle until the peripheral vehicle detects a partner vehicle that travels along with the host vehicle in such a manner that the following vehicle follows the preceding vehicle.

    本发明公开追随行驶支援装置、追随行驶支援方法以及计算机程序。提高本车辆遇到与本车辆一起进行后续车追随先行车的追随行驶的配对车辆的概率。追随行驶支援装置具备:车辆检测部(15),检测本车辆的周围的周边车辆;以及车速设定部(16),设定本车辆的目标车速。车速设定部直至作为周边车辆检测到与本车辆一起进行后续车追随先行车的追随行驶的配对车辆为止,将目标车速设定为与本车辆的设定速度不同的速度。
