The invention relates to a method for activating a GNSS receiver arranged in a vehicle, comprising at least the following steps: a) detecting first image information (1) at the time of vehicle activation by means of an image detection device, the first image information (1) describing the surroundings of the vehicle at the time of vehicle activation, b) comparing the first image information (1) detected in step a) with second image information (2), the first image information (1) and the second image information (2) are detected by the image detection device when the vehicle is parked and describe the surroundings of the vehicle when the vehicle is parked, and c) activating the GNSS receiver taking into account the result of the comparison in step b).
