The present disclosure provides a structurally reinforced housing cover for a traction battery pack. A traction battery pack for use in a powered vehicle is disclosed. An exemplary traction battery pack may include an outer housing assembly establishing an interior, and an array of batteries housed within the interior. The polymer-based housing cover of the housing assembly may be structurally reinforced by one or more structural cross members. The structural cross-member is designed to provide structural integrity during both normal operating conditions and thermal/ventilation events of the traction battery pack.
