A lift door incorporating a metal reinforcement having predetermined flanges, openings, notches, slots, holes, steps and/or adhesive gaps at predetermined critical locations that allow additional adhesive to be applied to an outer panel or glass, which will allow adhesive to flow around and through the metal reinforcement, and thus allows an adhesive to be bonded to the mating panel from the plurality of side portions. The adhesive is also mechanically captured through the opening, aperture, slot, and even into an undercut pocket in the mating component.
