The invention provides a translatable inductive charging system. An inductive charging system has the ability to translate a primary coil in three dimensions using three actuators. This permits the charging system to align the primary coil with the secondary coil even if the vehicle is not precisely positioned relative to the charging system. The charging system utilizes three legs of variable length. Each leg constrains the axis secured to the base to remain parallel to the axis secured to the platform while varying the distance between these axes. Each leg also provides the ability to adjust translation of the platform parallel to these axes.
