A connector assembly (1) comprising: a connector body (5) configured to be inserted into a socket; a cable (2) having one or more electrical connector members (6), and the connector body (5) is configured for receiving the one or more connector members; a first housing portion (4) and a second housing portion (3) configured to be connected to each other and to respective portions of the connector body (5) and the cable (2) to form a housing of the connector assembly; and a latch member (16) having a pawl (18) configured for releasably interconnecting with a catch member in the socket, the latch member being movable between a locked position and a released position. The connector assembly further comprises a trigger (20) having a user engaging portion (30) and comprising first support means (21a, 21b) for rotatable mounting in a corresponding trigger support (4a, 4b) of the first housing portion (4). The latch member (16) comprises second support means (17, 17a, 17b) for being rotatably mounted in a corresponding latch support (3a, 3b) of the second housing part (3). The trigger (20) comprises a first shaped portion (23a, 23b) and the latch member (16) comprises a second shaped portion (22a, 22b), and the first shaped portion and the second shaped portion have complementary surfaces and are configured for movable abutment connection when the connector assembly is assembled, and thereby define one or more engagement portions (J); the rotary movement (R1) of the trigger (20) causes a rotary movement (R2) of the latch member (16), and the rotary movement (R2) of the latch member (16) causes a rotary movement (R1) of the trigger (20). The invention also comprises an assembly method.
