The method comprises the steps that whether a front vehicle and a rear vehicle exist on a current to-be-changed target lane of a main vehicle or not is determined; determining a distance between the host vehicle and the front vehicle if there is the front vehicle on the target lane, and determining a distance between the host vehicle and the rear vehicle if there is the rear vehicle on the target lane; when the distance between the host vehicle and the front vehicle is greater than a first safety distance and the distance between the host vehicle and the rear vehicle is greater than a second safety distance, determining the motor efficiency required by the host vehicle to change into the target lane according to the motor efficiency of the host vehicle in the current lane and the motor efficiency of the front vehicle in the target lane; and adjusting the lane changing speed of the main vehicle according to the motor efficiency required for changing the main vehicle into the target lane so as to change the main vehicle into the target lane. According to the invention, the excessive consumption of the battery is reduced, the service life of the battery of the electric vehicle is prolonged, and the long-term maintenance cost is further reduced.
