The invention relates to the field of measurement of rail traffic, in particular to a railway vehicle wheel rail longitudinal force testing method, which comprises the following steps: when a bullet train is started, runs at a constant speed or is braked, a trailer is braked and under the action of wheel rail longitudinal force, axles near left and right wheels are in a torsion state, and torsion shear stress is generated on the axles; arranging strain gauges on the axle to form a strain bridge circuit for eliminating bending stress formed by transverse force and vertical force on the surface of the axle; and converting the shear stress and the longitudinal force of the wheel rail. According to the invention, the longitudinal force of the wheel rail can be accurately measured, a basis is provided for the traction curve and brake logic design of a vehicle, and an accurate measurement scheme is provided for researching the relationship between wheel abrasion and the longitudinal force of the wheel rail.
