The charging method of the extended-range vehicle comprises the following steps: acquiring a first SOC value and a first battery monomer voltage value; comparing the first SOC value with a preset range extender starting threshold value; when the first SOC value is not smaller than a preset range extender starting threshold value, comparing the first battery monomer voltage value with a preset range extender starting voltage threshold value; and if the voltage value of the first battery monomer is smaller than a preset range extender starting voltage threshold value, starting the range extender. According to the embodiment of the invention, a judgment condition of comparison between the first SOC value and the first battery monomer voltage value is added. When the first SOC value uploaded by the BMS through the CAN is larger than or equal to the preset range extender starting threshold value, and the first battery monomer voltage value uploaded by the BMS through the CAN is smaller than the preset range extender starting voltage threshold value, the range extender controller starts the range extender to charge the battery, and excessive discharging of the vehicle battery is avoided.
