The present disclosure provides battery thermal management via heat from a water-cooled condenser. A controller flows coolant from a water-cooled condenser to a loop arranged to exchange heat with a traction battery when operating an evaporator to remove heat from air in a cabin and during no request to heat the cabin and the traction battery, until the temperature of the traction battery is below the battery threshold temperature or the temperature of the coolant is above the coolant threshold temperature.
