One aspect of the invention relates to a method for controlling a light-emitting device (1) of a motor vehicle (2), said light-emitting device comprising:-a pixelated light source (10) having a plurality of selectively activatable basic light sources and being placed in a cartridge,-a control unit for controlling the pixelated light source (10), the invention relates to a method for controlling the actuation of a basic light source (300, 310) and allowing the projection of at least two superimposed images (300, 310), and a temperature sensor placed in the cartridge, said method being characterized in that it comprises the following steps:-measuring the temperature,-if the temperature is above a predetermined threshold,-determining the projection of the at least two superimposed images (300, 310). If yes, the light emitting power of one of the two images is attenuated, and the light emitting power of the other image is kept unchanged.
