The invention discloses a control method and device for a tower crane, a processor and the tower crane, and belongs to the technical field of engineering machinery. The control method comprises the steps that under the condition that an action instruction of switching from a movable arm mode to a flat arm mode is obtained, the inclination angle, detected by an angle detection device, of a cargo boom is obtained; determining the supporting force of the variable-amplitude oil cylinder to the cargo boom; judging whether the inclination angle is smaller than a preset angle threshold value and whether the supporting force is smaller than a preset supporting force threshold value; and under the condition that the inclination angle is smaller than a preset angle threshold value and the supporting force is smaller than a preset supporting force threshold value, the variable-amplitude oil cylinder is controlled to stop contracting, so that the cargo boom stops moving. When the tower crane is switched from the movable arm mode to the flat arm mode, the accuracy of judging whether the amplitude of the cargo boom is changed in place or not can be improved.
