The invention discloses a method for optimizing required power of a range extending system and a related device, which can be applied to engineering equipment with a power source provided by the range extending system. The control opening degree of an operation handle, used for controlling the material loading action, of engineering equipment is obtained, the power requirement of a working part executing the loading action is accurately estimated, the set rotating speed of a working motor is determined, and when the difference value of the actual rotating speed of the working motor and the set rotating speed of the working motor is not within the preset range, the working part is started. The power generation power of the range extending system is gradually increased through the preset power increasing step length, and then energy is provided for the working motor, so that when the engineering equipment is about to load high-load materials, the working motor has sufficient power to respond to the estimated power requirement in time, and the working efficiency is improved. Working parts of the engineering equipment can run smoothly when executing corresponding loading actions, and the working efficiency of the engineering equipment during operation is improved.
