The invention provides a core material for an elastic track and the elastic track, wherein the core material can easily return to a normal position even when lateral deviation or distortion occurs. The present invention relates to a core material (3) for an elastic track embedded in an endless belt-shaped track body (2) comprising an elastic body. A core material for an elastic track is provided with: a core material main body (8) extending in a second direction (b); a first protrusion (9A) protruding from the core body toward one side in the first direction (a); and a second protrusion (9B) protruding from the core body toward the other side in the first direction at a position further inward (bi) than the first protrusion in the second direction. The first protrusion has a shape protruding toward the outside (BO) in the second direction by a first engagement surface (10A), a first flat surface (11A), and a first curved surface (11B). The second protrusion has a shape protruding inward in the second direction by a second engagement surface (10B), a second flat surface, and a second curved surface (12B).
