Techniques for optimizing a distributed system for controlling direct current to direct current (DCDC) converters are described. In an example, a method includes powering, by a system operably coupled to at least one processor, an electrical system of an electrified vehicle with an intelligent cell system, the intelligent cell system including a plurality of battery cell clusters arranged in three strings, each of the plurality of battery cell clusters includes one or more battery cells and a DCDC converter connected to a respective one of the battery cell clusters and the electrical system. The method also includes controlling, by the system, when a respective one of the DCDC converters activates and deactivates generation and provision of a respective output voltage to the electrical system using a respective one of the battery cell clusters to which they are connected, based on the monitored power demand.
