A computer-implemented method (20) of predicting the dynamics of an object in the surroundings of a vehicle (100). The method begins with the following steps: receiving (S21) a first data set characterizing the dynamics of the object in each case. Each of the first data sets is then propagated (S22) by an encoder (11) outputting a potential representation for each of the first data sets. A graph based on the potential representation is then generated (S23). The graph is then propagated through a graph neural network (12) outputting the updated graph. Based on the updated graph, the decoder (13) outputs the predicted dynamics of the selected object for the subsequent time step.
