The method comprises the following steps: acquiring and processing to obtain an actually-measured profile of a railhead profile of a steel rail, and carrying out regional division on the actually-measured profile of the railhead profile; performing initial alignment on the actually measured profile and the standard profile based on the highest point and the outermost point, and then completing accurate alignment through fine adjustment; and calculating the vertical abrasion, the side abrasion and the total abrasion of the steel rail through an interpolation method based on the aligned actual measurement profile and the standard profile. The device comprises a data acquisition unit and a data processing unit, and the data processing unit is configured to process data obtained by the data acquisition unit to obtain an actual measurement profile of a rail head profile and perform region division on the actual measurement profile of the rail head profile; performing initial alignment on the actually measured profile and the standard profile based on the highest point and the outermost point, and then completing accurate alignment through fine adjustment; and calculating the vertical abrasion, the side abrasion and the total abrasion of the steel rail through an interpolation method based on the aligned actual measurement profile and the standard profile.
