The invention relates to the technical field of traffic safety management, and discloses a mountain area expressway network toughness evaluation method for a travel peak period, and the method comprises the following steps: 1, obtaining the management data of a mountain area road section, the traffic flow data of a mountain area entrance and exit, and the environment detection data of the mountain area road section; 2, analyzing the gradient, curvature and flatness coefficient of each mountain road section; 3, setting target points, obtaining all driving paths between the target points, and analyzing the risk coefficient of each driving path; 4, different types of test vehicles are set, the passing duration of the different types of test vehicles is predicted under the condition that the path is unified, and the multi-dimensional evaluation accuracy is high; and step 5, according to the road condition, the traffic state and the vehicle type dimension, evaluating the toughness grade of the highway network in the mountainous area, the toughness grade of each driving path and the adaptation degree of different types of vehicles and single driving paths, and outputting an evaluation result and a management suggestion, so that the dynamic adjustment practicability is high.
