The invention relates to the technical field of variable-frequency permanent magnet motor driving system installation, and particularly discloses a portal crane variable-frequency permanent magnet motor driving system configuration method which comprises the following steps: S1, connecting a rotating permanent magnet motor and a walking permanent magnet motor in parallel; the rotary permanent magnet motor is connected in series with an SINV rotary frequency converter, and the walking permanent magnet motor is connected in series with a GINV walking frequency converter; s2, carrying out self-learning on an SINV rotary frequency converter and a GINV walking frequency converter; and S3, the rotating permanent magnet motor or the walking permanent magnet motor is connected with a load, and the SINV rotating frequency converter and the GINV walking frequency converter are debugged. Through the application of the configuration method, the application of the variable-frequency permanent magnet motor on the portal crane is realized, and the comprehensive electricity-saving effect is about 5-20% after the variable-frequency permanent magnet motor is put into use.
