In an electromagnetic brake control device, a control device body excites a brake coil to cause the brake coil to suck an armature with a view to releasing an electromagnetic brake device. Further, the control device body, which can detect start of a release operation of the armature resulting from suction by the brake coil, reduces a suction force generated in the brake coil to a value smaller than a suction force before the start of the release operation when the start of the release operation is detected.
