To ensure a necessary minimum braking force while also reducing auxiliary power source capacity, by reducing needless power consumption after a transition has been made to a drive state using an auxiliary power source. Provided is a controller (21) for shifting to a drive state using a backup power source (14) when a vehicle power source (1) fails, and limiting the current outputted to a boost motor (24) of an electrically boosted brake device (6) for producing braking hydraulic pressure when a transition is made to the drive state using the backup power source (14). In this braking force control device for an electric vehicle, the controller (21) has the function of shifting among at least two current limit values when the boost motor (24) is being actuated by the backup power source (14), the current limit values including a first current limit value for ensuring increased-braking-hydraulic-pressure characteristics, and a second current limit value for maintaining a necessary minimum braking hydraulic pressure, the second current limit value being less than the first current limit value ( FIG. 4 ).
