The invention relates to a system for locating objects on a delimited area using readers and transponders, characterised in that the area has predetermined positioning areas (P1, P2, P3, P4, P5) that can respectively have a plurality of objects (F1, F2, S3) arranged on them, in that each object has at least one reader (R) on at least one side and at least one transponder (T) on at least one further side, in that also each positioning area (P1, P2, P3, P4, P5) has an entrance region (E1, E2, E3, E4, E5) and an exit region (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5), in that the entrance and exit regions are respectively provided with at least one transponder and in that the readers (R) are connected to a central computer unit (SRV), and in that the central computer unit (SRV) ascertains the position of the objects (F1, F2, S3) on the positioning areas (P1, P2, P3, P4, P5) from the transmitted data from the readers (R).
