First route profile data are acquired for a predetermined route segment as a function of data that are acquired by means of a predetermined sensor device (Sen) of a vehicle (20) or of a further vehicle (30), the first route profile data being representative of at least one first local physical road property. Encoded second route profile data that are provided and that at least partly relate to the predetermined route segment are read in, said encoded second route profile data having a spectral distribution and/or a spectral distribution function determined as a function of second route profile data, and the second route profile data being representative of at least one second local physical road property. A degree of similarity between one or more profiles of at least one physical route property and/or spectral distribution function of a physical route property, represented in the first route profile data and the encoded second route profile data, is determined. Depending on the degree of similarity, a decoding information for the encoded second route profile data is determined and, depending on said decoding information, the encoded second route profile data are at least partly decoded and made available.
