A steel cord has a 1 × 4 structure in which four element wires are twisted together, wherein at least one of the four element wires is a wavy element wire repeatedly having bent portions and non-bent portions along a longitudinal direction, wherein the steel cord in a cross-section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction has a flattened shape, and wherein in a plurality of cross-sections perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, in a case in which ellipses circumscribing the four element wires are drawn, slopes of minor axes of the ellipses are within ±30 degrees from a median value.
