The present invention relates to a method and a system for providing access for aid or rescue personnel at a specific location within a multi storey building comprising at least one elevator. A request for aid or rescue has been made by a person at the specific location in the multi storey building. An elevator call service receives a communication from the aid or rescue service, the communication concerning the request received by the aid or rescue service. A rescue mode is activated in the elevator call service, comprising temporarily reserving an elevator within said multi storey building for aid or rescue use only. Elevator service is provided by the reserved elevator to aid or rescue personnel only for using the reserved elevator for traveling to the specific location.
