The invention relates to a crankset for a bicycle comprising a shaft (1) mounted to rotate in a housing (2) and having two end pieces (1a, 1b) on which a base (9a, 9b) of a pedalling crank (8a, 8b) is respectively mounted by means of a reversible connection system comprising a rod (16) mounted to rotate in the shaft (1), the rod having a first end (16a) provided with a screw-thread projecting from a first crank (8a) in order to engage with an axial tightening nut (18) when in a mounted position on the shaft (1), the rod (16) having a second end (16b) which projects from the second crank (8b) while being equipped with a member (21) for manually turning the rod (16) in a tightening direction, the member having a non-return device (27, 28) acting in the direction opposing loosening and that can be manually deactivated for the purpose of removing the cranks (8a, 8b).
