A charging station for an electric vehicle (EV) is part of a container 110 (e.g. an ISO container) and includes an EV charging port and a first photovoltaic (PV) panel 120 coupled to the container, wherein the PV panel is electrically coupled to the charging port. The first PV panel is movable from a storage position, in which the plane of the panel is substantially parallel to a first side wall of the container, to an inclined operational position in which the panel extends away from the first side of the container. The plane of the PV panel can be angled in a downward or upward direction from the top of the container. The first PV panel may be mounted on a first support element 210 that is rotatably coupled to the container. The charging station may include a second PV panel 130 mounted to the top of the container and a third PV panel 310 attached to a second side of the container. The third PV panel may be attached to the container via a second support element 410 which is rotatably coupled to the container to allow the third PV panel to be rotated from a storage position to an inclined operational position. The PV panels may be mounted on wedge-shaped supports with the thickest portion of the support coupled to the container. Guttering may be placed around the perimeter of the support elements to channel water from the PV panels to a downpipe.
