The present invention relates to a method for controlling a braking system of an electric vehicle, comprising: determining a total requested brake strength (S1) of the braking system based at least on a brake request of the braking system and a vehicle driving speed of the electric vehicle; determining a brake strength of each brake mode of the braking system based at least on vehicle status information of the electric vehicle, the braking system having at least three brake modes, and the brake modes having a preset priority (S2; and if at most two brake modes are put into use, determining a requested brake force S3 of each brake mode based at least on the total requested brake strength and the priority of the brake mode. According to the present invention, it is possible to effectively suppress brake jitter in the brake process, improve the driving comfort of the vehicle, and simplify the control strategy for coordinating these brake modes, effectively reducing the hardware and software costs of a continuous brake coordinator for coordinating these brake modes.
