A vehicle braking apparatus performs brake fluid pressure control and determines whether a movement direction of the vehicle matches a steering direction or not (S204) when the vehicle starts moving on a slope road in a wheel lock state. When the movement direction of the vehicle does not match the steering direction, the apparatus reduces the brake fluid pressure below a basic value in accordance with brake operation by the driver (S206), and when the movement direction of the vehicle matches the steering direction, the apparatus stops reduction in the brake fluid pressure(S205). The apparatus continues the brake fluid pressure control until the vehicle decelerates during moving on the slope road (S207).
