In the design of drive trains for lift systems, an advantageous balance between necessary resources and achievable technical (power) data is desirable. In particular, in drive trains with a belt drive, the shaft interacting with at least one belt in a drive zone requires constructional optimisation in order to be able to utilise improvement potential in terms of other components in the drive train. According to the invention, the shaft has an absolute shaft length that is specified via length sizing with reference to the width of the drive zone. In this way, a particularly advantageous balance can be achieved based on an interdependency between the lengths and optionally also an interdependency between the diameters, in particular in terms of an optimum relating to both the material processing requirements and smallest possible dimensions, wherein, on this basis, the respective drive train can be designed for different applications.
