A cooling system for a subsea pump 10, comprising: a drive shaft 18, the drive shaft comprising a coolant delivery flow path and a coolant return flowpath, which may be a central bore 26; a fluid delivery inflow port and a fluid delivery outflow port, each located on a circumferential surface of the drive shaft, the fluid delivery inflow port 30 to permit flow from a coolant source to the coolant delivery flow path, and the fluid delivery outflow port 32 to permit flow from the coolant delivery flow path to a target location; a fluid return inflow port 34 located on an axial end of the drive shaft, and a fluid return outflow port 28 located on a circumferential surface of the drive shaft, the fluid return inflow port to permit flow from the target location to the coolant return flowpath, and the fluid return outflow port to permit flow from the coolant return flowpath to a coolant sink; wherein the turning of the drive shaft drives fluid flow through the coolant delivery flowpath and the coolant return flow path. The disclosure further relates to a method for providing cooling and/or lubrication of a subsea pump.
