Articulated machine 100 having first and second frames (102, 104, figure 1), supported by front and rear wheel assemblies 115, 117, having first and second sensors (126, 128, figure 1) providing position information mounted thereon. Drive train 202, 224, 226 couples front and rear wheel assemblies 115, 117 and has inter-axle lockable differential 222. Controller 130, coupled to sensors 126, 128 and differential 222, compares positions (e.g. compares angles) of first and second frames 102, 104 to give relative position (e.g. relative angle), compares relative position with predefined position limit (e.g. predefined angle), and selectively locks inter-axle differential 222 if relative position is greater than position limit (e.g. to prevent vehicle / trailer roll-over). Sensors 126, 128 may be multi-axis inertia sensors measuring pitch and / or roll angle. Inter-axle differential 222 may have valve controlled locking clutch 228, 230. Controller 130 may send audio / visual roll-over alert / warning to operator. A database may store recorded sensor positions and roll-over events. Method of use also included.
