A bumper module (1, figure 1) for a vehicle comprises a cross-beam (2) having fastening flanges 12 provided at either end so that it may be attached to longitudinal frame members 13 of the vehicle, and where a layer 9 comprising of fibre-reinforced plastics extends continuously from the cross-beam and into the flanges. The cross-beam may comprise front and rear walls 4, 3 formed by bending an upper edge 5 of the beam, or it may comprise a single wall with a hat-shaped profile at least in a centre section (figures 4, 5). Ribs 11 may be provided between the front and rear walls, or inside the hat-shaped profile. Energy absorbers 19 may be injection moulded onto a front surface of the fastening flanges, said absorbers comprising a honeycomb structure (figure 3). The invention is intended to provide a bumper module with high load-bearing capacity at a low weight.
