A floor module 5 to be installed in the rear area of a motor vehicle, wherein, relative to the vehicle longitudinal axis, a rear portion 8 of the floor component 5 consists of a first plastic composition, and a front portion 7 consists of a second plastic composition. The first plastic composition imparts a higher elastic deformability. The two areas can be joined to form one single unit, preferably resembling a trough shape. To aid connection to the associated vehicle a horizontal mounting flange 16 can be incorporated around the perimeter, wherein said flange can be strengthened via means of stiffening ribs 22 which extend vertically up a side wall 15. A receptacle may be present, so as to accommodate a vehicle battery (12, Fig.1). As a method of battery securement, a hook (18, Fig.1) can be plugged into a projection 13, which would be capable of encompassing at least one battery side.
