An assembly for loading or unloading an autonomous underwater vehicle 1, AUV. The assembly comprises a flexible conduit 3, 6 anchored to the seabed, at least one buoyancy element 7 attached to the flexible conduit, a connector 8 for connecting to the AUV and a driver 10 for moving the connector to the AUV. The driver may be a remotely operated vehicle, that may be received by the AUV when not in use, or the driver may be permanently attached to the conduit and may comprise a steering module and a communication module. A method for loading or unloading an AUV using the assembly is also disclosed.
