A method for controlling an assistance system of a vehicle, the method including the steps of collecting driver data (S1), determining (S2) emotional data from the driver data, the emotional data representing an emotion of the driver and determining (S3) control data depending on the emotional data, characterized by controlling (S4) the assistance system of the vehicle. The sensors may be a camera, microphone, blood pressure monitor or an oximeter. The data may be collected by acoustic, optical, or biometric means. The system may have the ability to learn via an algorithm.
