During installation of an offshore facility (10, Fig 1), a vessel 20 is connected to a supply line 16 at a location offshore. Energy is supplied to the vessel from a first supply line connection 28, and that supplied energy is used in electrical form to perform a first installation operation on the facility without producing harmful emissions. Energy is then supplied to the vessel from a second supply line connection 28, and that supplied energy is used in electrical form to perform a second installation operation on the facility without producing harmful emissions. The vessel may perform those operations itself or can provide energy to a separate work vessel or rig (46, Fig 10) that performs those operations instead. When the facility is installed and in operation, the supply line is used to convey energy to, from or within the facility.
