PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery control device capable of ensuring the travel of a vehicle even if a shock is input to the vehicle.SOLUTION: A battery control device is applied to an electric vehicle driving an electric motor 1 for vehicle travel using a first battery pack 4 mounted at a predetermined position of a vehicle body and a second battery pack 5 mounted at another location of the vehicle body and electrically connected to the first battery pack 4. The battery control device comprises a switching circuit 6 cutting off the electrical connection between the first battery pack 4 and the second battery pack 5 and supplying power to the electric motor 1 from a predetermined number of series connected unit cells among unit cells constituting the second battery pack 5 when a shock is input to the electric vehicle.
