PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian protection airbag device capable of stabilizing the deployment behavior of a lateral bag portion.SOLUTION: A pedestrian protection airbag device 10 comprises: an airbag 34 provided on a lower surface of a hood rear end portion 16A, expanded and deployed to a vehicle rear side from a clearance between the hood rear end portion 16A and a wind shield glass 30 by a pressure of gas generated by an inflator 26, and covering at least a front surface of a lower portion of a front pillar 31; and a spherical enlarged portion 28 formed in a rear end portion 33A of each lateral bag portion 33 in an expansion and deployment state, and having an internal space made larger than that of a general portion 33B.

    【課題】側方バッグ部の展開挙動を安定化することができる歩行者保護エアバッグ装置を得る。【解決手段】歩行者保護エアバッグ装置10は、フード後端部16Aの下面に配設され、インフレータ26が発生させるガスの圧力でフード後端部16Aとウインドシールドガラス30との間の隙間から車両後方側へ膨張展開されて、フロントピラー31の少なくとも下部の前面を覆う側方バッグ部33を備えたエアバッグ34と、膨張展開状態における側方バッグ部33の後端部33Aに形成され、一般部33Bよりも内部空間が拡大された球状拡大部28と、を有する。【選択図】図1
