PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel assist system that controls an own vehicle into a position at which the own vehicle can safely and highly efficiently pass a preceding vehicle.SOLUTION: When an own vehicle C departs a traveling lane is a side direction and passes a preceding vehicle, a travel route along which the own vehicle C can assume a posture in which the own vehicle can detect a scene in front of the preceding vehicle while an object detector 11 is located within a range from the end of the preceding vehicle in a side direction to the border of the traveling lane is created, the distance between the own vehicle C and preceding vehicle enabling the own vehicle C to travel along the created travel route is designated, and the own vehicle C is controlled for fear the distance between the own vehicle C and preceding vehicle may be equal to or smaller than the designated distance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】安全かつ高効率に先行車を追い越し可能な位置に自車を制御する走行支援装置を提供する。【解決手段】自車Cが走行車線を横方向に逸脱して先行車を追い越す場合において、自車Cが、物体検出部11が横方向における先行車の端部から走行車線の境界までの範囲に位置する間に先行車の前方を検出できるような姿勢となる走行経路を生成し、生成された走行経路を自車Cが走行可能な、自車Cと先行車との車間距離を設定し、自車Cと先行車との車間距離が、設定された車間距離以下とならないように自車Cを制御する。【選択図】図1
