PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply control device for on-vehicle electric load and a control method therefor that can suppress a diagnostic circuit from increasing in cost and discriminate many kinds of abnormality.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to: a power supply control device 100 for on-vehicle electric load that comprises upstream and downstream-side opening/closing elements 120a, 140 connected to a first electric load 40a in series, and a control circuit 190 which controls the opening/closing elements, and determines a kind of abnormality of the circuit based upon a voltage monitor signal MNT varying in response to upstream and downstream potentials of the first electric load 40a and a current monitor signal MN0 varying with the voltage across a downstream resistance 401; and a control method therefor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
