PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a fuel gas from flowing backward between multistage compression mechanisms when stopping supply of the fuel gas pressurized by using the multistage compression mechanisms to an engine.SOLUTION: A fuel gas supply system comprises a fuel gas source 12 and multistage compression mechanisms 13a-13e connected in series. The compression mechanisms respectively comprise gas compressors 16a-16e, low-pressure gas flow passages, high-pressure gas flow passages, bypass pipes 24a-24e connecting the low-pressure gas flow passages and the high-pressure gas flow passages, and control valves for controlling the flow rates of a fuel gas in the bypass pipes. Gas supply lines connecting the plurality of compression mechanisms are provided with check valves 32a-32d for preventing the fuel gas from flowing backward in a reverse direction to a supply direction, respectively.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
