To obtain a pillar which can be easily manufactured, and is strong to compression and tension in various directions in a cross-section.SOLUTION: A vehicular center pillar (10) is equipped with an inside member (30) having two groove portions and an intermediate portion connecting the groove portions, and an outside member (20) with a groove-shaped cross-section having vertical wall portions (22 and 28) and a bottom portion (25). The inside member and the outside member are joined to each other to form a closed cross sectional structure. A reinforcing member (40) is provided, which has first parts (43 and 47) linearly extending from side walls (22, 33a, 28, and 37a) of the closed cross sectional structure to the intermediate portion (35) of the inside member generally in a fore-and-aft direction of a vehicle, and second parts (44 and 46) linearly extending from the intermediate portion (35) of the inside member to the bottom portion (25) of the outside member. The first parts (43 and 47) of the reinforcing member are welded to the intermediate portion (35) of the inside member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】容易に製造でき断面内の様々な方向の圧縮と引張に強いピラーを得る。【解決手段】車両用センターピラー(10)であって、2つの溝部とこの溝部を繋ぐ中間部とを有する内側部材(30)と、縦壁部(22、28)と底部(25)とを有する溝形断面の外側部材(20)とがあって、この内側部材と外側部材が互いに接合されて閉断面構造を形成している。閉断面構造の側壁(22、33a、28、37a)から内側部材の中間部(35)まで概して車両の前後方向に直線的に延びる第一部分(43、47)と、内側部材の中間部(35)から外側部材の底部(25)まで直線的に延びる第二部分(44、46)とを有する補強部材(40)が設けられている。この補強部材の第一部分(43、47)が内側部材の中間部(35)に溶接されている。【選択図】図2
