To provide a four-wheel drive vehicle capable of detecting presence/absence of abnormality of a flow channel formation member constituting a flow channel of a working fluid without installing pressure detection means such as a pressure sensor for detecting a pressure of a working fluid discharged from a pump for actuating a clutch transmitting a driving force, and to provide a method for controlling a four-wheel drive vehicle.SOLUTION: A hydraulic unit 8 includes an electric motor 80 to which a motor current is supplied from a control device 9, and a pump 81 actuated by rotation of a motor shaft 801, a driving force transmission device 1 has a piston 50 moved by a pressure of hydraulic oil discharged from the pump 81 and a friction clutch 53 which switches a transmission state and a cut-off state of a driving force to rear wheels 105L and 105R by movement of the piston 50. The control device 9 detects presence/absence of a flow channel formation member forming a flow channel of hydraulic oil by at least any one of the motor current when a voltage is applied to the electric motor 80 and the motor shaft 801 is rotated and the number of rotation of the motor shaft 801.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4

    【課題】駆動力を伝達するクラッチを作動させるためにポンプから吐出された作動流体の圧力を検出する圧力センサ等の圧力検知手段を設置しなくとも、作動流体の流路を構成する流路形成部材の異常の有無を検知することが可能な4輪駆動車及び4輪駆動車の制御方法を提供する。【解決手段】油圧ユニット8は、制御装置9からモータ電流が供給される電動モータ80と、モータ軸801の回転によって作動するポンプ81とを有し、駆動力伝達装置1は、ポンプ81から吐出された作動油の圧力によって移動するピストン50と、ピストン50の移動によって後輪105L,105Rへの駆動力の伝達状態と遮断状態とが切り替わる摩擦クラッチ53とを有する。制御装置9は、電動モータ80に電圧を印加してモータ軸801を回転させたときのモータ電流及びモータ軸801の回転数の少なくとも何れかによって、作動油の流路を形成する流路形成部材の異常の有無を検知する。【選択図】図4
