To provide a traveling state detection device and a work machine comprising the same which can make the work machine safely travel on a plate-like member even when an upper structure rotates.SOLUTION: A traveling state detection device includes: a pair of sensors 2 disposed in a longitudinal direction of an upper structure 12 and capable of detecting a ladder-like member 30; and a controller determining whether a travel crawler 15 travels on the ladder-like member 30 on the basis of detection results. The pair of sensors 2 includes a plurality of non-contact type distance measuring sensors 3 disposed on a lower face of the upper structure 12 and outputs an output value according to distance to a detection object. When the travel crawler 15 travels on the ladder-like member 30 and in a case where one of distance measuring sensors 3 of the pair of sensors 2 can detect the ladder-like member 30, the controller specifies the distance measuring sensor 3 on the basis of the output value outputted by each of the distance measuring sensors 3 and determines whether there is a possibility of stepping out from the ladder-like member 30 by the travel crawler 15 on the basis of a change of the output value of the distance measuring sensor 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
